Kids Smart Vita Gummies – Now Available in Sri Lanka

511As mothers we give much thought to providing a balanced and nutritious diet to our children. I know we plan out meals with the intention of making sure our children get their required intake of vegetables, fruits and meats. None of us particularly need educating on providing a varied and balanced diet for our kids. Chances are your paediatrician would have also covered this topic with you at some point.

Even though ideally our children should be obtaining their vitamins & minerals from their diet, we quite often give multivitamins as a supplement to their diet to make sure that they receive all the vitamins, minerals and other goodness to ensure proper growth of their brain, bones, and muscles & to promote collective health & well-being. Multivitamins act as a ‘top-up’ if you will.

Additionally if you have a fussy eater or a child who is participating in a very demanding physical sport or mental activity or are on a vegetarian or diary-free diet, you may need to speak to your paediatrician or health care professional and opt to give a multivitamin to your child.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw on social media that Gummie Multivitamins are now locally available in Sri Lanka! Oh the joy! A couple of months ago, if you needed gummie multivitamins you had to bring them down from overseas or get your kind friends and relatives to send them across. So thankfully, they are within your reach now and are available at most leading pharmacies as well as at the main outlet of Vitawell at Liberty Arcade, Colombo 03.

If you haven’t heard of gummie multivitamins, let me explain what they are. Gummie Multivitamins are small chewable pastilles which are flavoured, in kid friendly flavours such as orange, raspberry and lemon. The gummies are somewhat like the locally available jujube candy that little ones enjoy having. They have a solidified jelly like consistency which is a simple, fun and convenient way of making your little one take his multivitamins. If your little one (quite like mine) hates taking that spoonful of multivitamin syrup or hates chewing those chalky and rather tasteless vitamin tablets, these gummies are something your little one will absolutely love having. There’s no water required, no swallowing, it’s almost like having a candy!69884fdf7a630038bf93b577da017e64

Here are two different kinds of Gummies available locally. There are more varieties though!

Nature’s Way Kids Smart Vita Gummies Omega-3 + Multi

These gummies are easily Junior’s (and my) favourite!506Nature’s Way Kids Smart Vita Gummies Omega-3 + Multi contain 11 essential multivitamins & minerals. These pastilles include Vitamin C, Vitamin B1, B2 (Roboflavin), B3, B12, Vitamin E and more. Added to all the vitamins & minerals that are in these gummies, Nature’s Way Kids Smart Vita Gummies Omega-3 + Multi also contains DHA which has a whole host of benefits which are explained below. These soft pastilles come in raspberry, orange and lemon flavours which your little ones will thoroughly love having.

What is DHA – Docosahexaenoic Acid?

Docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA, is a polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acid that is found throughout the body. DHA is important for brain & eye development and functions throughout your life and is particularly important for growing children.

DHA provides a number of important health benefits to children including:

  • Supporting rapid brain and eye growth and development.
  • Supporting normal cognitive function.
  • Supporting brain and eye development and function.
  • Recently published research suggests that for children ages 7-9 who are underperforming, consumption of DHA daily may support improvements in reading, memory, behaviour and sleep.

Vitamin B1, B2 (Riboflavin), B3, B12

Like all vitamins, the vitamin B family is important. Deficiencies in Vitamin B can cause symptoms normally associated with the flu or other infectious diseases – like nausea, abdominal pains or even vomiting. Other symptoms include a loss of appetite, bad breath, indigestion and constipation.

Vitamin B deficiency also affects learning – loss of alertness, forgetfulness, moodiness and confusion.

If you are looking for a well rounded Multivitamin which your kids will enjoy taking and promotes cognitive and physical development as well as collective health & well-being, Nature’s Way Kids Smart Vita Gummies Omega-3 + Multi is a must have.507

Nature’s Way Kids Smart Vita Gummies Cold & Flu Immunity 502

Immunity is particularly an issue in preschoolers and young children, especially during flu seasons.

I absolutely dread the time those very bad flus make rounds. Your little one ends up with runny noses or worse still blocked noses that leave them awake at night. When it’s all done, usually they end up with a hacking cough that goes on for weeks. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. Missed school work and after school activities, adds total pressure on children.

Nature’s Way Kids Smart Vita Gummies Cold & Flu Immunity helps support a healthy immunity system. In addition to the fact that it contains Vitamin C & Zinc it contains Elderberry & Honey.image

Vitamin C is important for kids to help maintain healthy body tissues, such as gums, bones, and blood vessels. Vitamin C also helps the body resist infection. So even though your little ones are bound to catch a flu once in a way, Vitamin C makes it that much harder for the body to become infected with an illness.

Nature’s Way Kids Smart Vita Gummies Cold & Flu Immunity also contains elderberries (Sambucus Nigra) which are purple-black sour berries that are rich in antioxidants and flavonoids that help support the immune system. Elderberries extracts are used to help lower cholesterol, improve vision, boost the immune system, for coughs, colds, flu, tonsillitis, sinus infections and bacterial and viral infections.

Traditionally elderberries have been used for centuries as a folk remedy in North America, Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa. Recent research has shown that honey which has been traditionally used to fight off flus is rather effective due to the fact that it has a unique ability to fight infection on numerous levels helping it to fight bacteria and viruses.503

If you feel like your little one’s immunity is low, you can give these gummies daily or opt to give it to your little one during flu season or when he’s showing symptoms of the flu. They are absolutely tasty and come in a berry flavour which you kids will enjoy. You can also give these together with a multivitamin gummie.
