How is your pregnancy? Are there any issues you need to deal with?

Baby on bladder… where’s the bathroom?!
I suffer from a pre-existing rare form of blood disorder. So my pregnancies are always a little crazy. But the miracle born at the end makes it all worth it. My daughter is four years old and my second one is on the way. I am due in November. But going through a pregnancy in a foreign land is always a challenge specially if there is a language barrier. Walking into hospitals and trying to communicate with the nurses/technicians in the labs have been a challenge.

Baby boy or baby girl?

We have decided to keep it a surprise. So far all we know is that the baby is human!

In what way does your second pregnancy differ from the first?

This pregnancy experience has been different in every way! I guess I had it easy with my first one. This time I have suffered from every discomfort the books describe from 7 months of morning sickness (so far) to carpel tunnel syndrome!

Any weird cravings?

During the first time I fell in love with mustard. I could eat mustard in just about anything. And this time is has been hot chocolate with butter!

What are your pregnancy essentials?

The number one essential in every step of the way has been my husband!

Is it harder being pregnant while you already have a preschooler?

Oh yes! I had worked throughout my first pregnancy and had thought how much harder could it be? But now as the pregnancy progresses and I loose control of every aspect of my bodily functions, I realize that I have been loosing every aspect of my mental functions as well with my preschooler!

What were the main factors that you took into consideration when choosing your OB/GYN?

The most important factor to me is a doctor who is well read and up to date. Sensitivity and easy accessibility follow. I cannot deal with someone who keeps his/her patients waiting for hours.

What are your tips on looking fab with the bump?

After the first trimester everyone can guess that you are pregnant. The bump is something to be proud off. But I cannot tolerate people flaunting their bumps. Show it off subtly. Let people say you hardly look pregnant!

What do you do to relax?

A massage. Nothing can beat my Tuesday mornings when my massage lady comes home.

What kind of support are you looking for when the baby arrives since you will be then be having two kids?

A well trained certified nanny. Hopefully one with some amount of nursing training.

Cloth diapers or disposal diapers?

I would say a combination of both, though disposal ones will probably be used more. I think cloth ones
are necessary for a change because of the hot humid weather to avoid nappy rash.

What is the weirdest thing anyone has asked you during your pregnancy?

A man once showed me in motion and asked where is my bump?!?!?

How did you get back to your original size after your first pregnancy?

The best way is to try and be the best hands on mom that you can possibly be. I did everything for my first. Except washing her clothes!

Was there a particular age gap that you were planning for between the children? If so, why?

I always feel the bigger the gap the better it is. Older the siblings, the easier it is to deal with factors like jealousy. Saying that one also has to keep their own biological clock in mind! The gap between the two of mine will be four and half years.

How did you go about looking for a school for your little girl?

My main factor was a school which would give her a chance to develop her full potential in her own way. Schools which stress on additional activities like stage performances and sports and not only academics.

What do you look for in after school activities for her?

I look into a combination of physical and in door activities. She goes for tennis, singing and art. I will start her on swimming and ballet soon. I believe in introducing a variety of activities at a young age and then to pursue the ones that she shows interest and potential for.

Is there anything that you are planning to do specifically different from your first pregnancy?

Not really. I just let everyday take its course and do what I feel is right.
